Calgary was founded in the community of East Village in the late 1800s. Located on the East side of the downtown core, this community is home to a mix number of high-rise residential, commercial, historic buildings. The area is currently being redeveloped with an extremely well thought out plan to revitalize the area into a mixed use commercial area, featuring parks, restaurants, condos with high quality design and materials. East Village is also home to the stunning National Music centre, complete with history of Canadian music history, recording studios and more. I am so proud of the epic new Central Public Library (designed by world renowned architects Snøhetta and DIALOG) that was completed in 2019 and has won several architectural awards and earned recognition throughout the world. The city has also upgraded the Riverwalk which has also won several design awards with its dedicated pedestrian and cycle lanes with the beautiful vegetation that runs along the edges of both the Elbow river and Bow river.
